LEARN YOGA
Through this yoga teaching program, you embark on a profound journey of self-discovery; offering a holistic, well rounded, comprehensive training to build a foundation upon which to teach the ancient art & healing practice of yoga in a creative form drawing from your personal practice.
You do not need to have the desire to become a yoga instructor to participate. This program is open to all interested in deepening their practice & learning the fundamentals of teaching hatha yoga. The program meets the current guidelines of Yoga Alliance for course content & scope, allowing students who successfully complete the training program to register with Yoga Alliance for RYT( registered yoga teacher) recognition in Hatha Yoga.
Some of the course topics include: history and evolution of Yoga, Meditation and Mantras, Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers, Anatomy, Yogic Diet and Nutrition, Ayurveda, Pranayama (breathwork), Chakras, master classes in various styles of Yoga such as: Ishta Yoga, Power Flow Yoga, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Kundalini, Vinyasa, Budokon, Partner, Restorative, and population-specific training for Prenatal, Kids/Children, Seniors and special needs classes.
LEARN THE ART OF TEACHING
We believe that all students that complete our program should be trained and confident in the art of teaching. Everyone is unique and we believe in exploring and developing students' own creative style with intensive study and practice of asanas (postures), assisting/adjusting and modification of poses, working with props, class planning and sequencing, observation of and assisting of classes and practice teaching from the first day of class onwards. Students will embark on in depth study and practice of asanas (postures) in Asana Intensives ©, assisting/adjusting and modification of poses, class planning and sequencing, observation of and assisting of classes & practice teaching
FEQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What if I miss some classes?
We require 80% attendance and 100% commitment on your part. Missed classes can be retaken in any of the future Mandala Yoga School free of charge.
* ALL Mandala Yoga School graduates will be welcome back to take any future missed classes or to take ny class in their original training as a refresher.
* A small charge will apply to any newly added classes that were not part of the student's original curriculum.
Will I be Certified after this course?
Yes. You will be certified as a Yoga Teacher at the completion of this course by the Mandala Yoga School. You may mail a copy of this certificate to Yoga Alliance to receive your Yoga Alliance card that will give you the title of “Registered Yoga Teacher.”
Is there a written test at the end?
There are Home Assignments all through the course. However, there are no written tests that will decide whether you pass or fail. Some factors that will go into it will be observations from teachers, attendance, participation and students presentations on in-classroom assignments.
What is the material that will be covered during the program and how is it presented?
This Teacher Training program is based on the requirements of Yoga Alliance. The students learn the four aspects of Hatha Yoga: Postures, Breathing exercises, Mudras, and Meditation. For the detailed study of postures, the students utilize B.K.S. Iyengar’s “Light on Yoga” and for Anatomy and Physiology, Ray Long’s “The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga. Additionally, students learn the basics of Sanskrit language. Suggested supplemental readings include Yoga Sutras and Bhagavat Gita.
